I met Brittany first via Instagram when she and Nick first moved to Oahu. They are a fellow military family and we connected instantly- mainly because Brittany is so loving and hilarious that it’s pretty much impossible to not like her immediately! Girlfriend is HILARIOUS. Over coffee shop dates, breakfast hangs, and multiple trips to get shave ice, getting to know Brittany and Nick has been such a blessing since we moved here to Oahu.

A few months ago when I needed a couple to volunteer for a mentor session I had on the island, Brittany volunteered right away. I’m pretty sure she texted me something along the lines of, “UH HELLO I’M MARRIED, I’M IN LOVE, AND I’M FREE.” Ya gotta love this girl.

These two were the PERFECT goofballs to model for a mentor session, because they weren’t afraid to let loose, be silly (I’m talking MEGA silly), and have so much fun. I barely had to direct them, and most of what you see below is them being 100% Nick and Brittany – undirected and unscripted. Because of it, I think this is one of the best naturally candid photoshoots I’ve ever done.

Lastly I want to share these two’s proposal story because it’s literally the best thing you will ever hear. I’ll let Brittany tell you in her own words…

“I was going to West Point that weekend & I knew Nick wanted to take me on a hike. I had a feeling he was going to propose there because we had hiked it before & I legitimately said “When you propose, do it here.” Well plot twist because it stormed the whole day, and I was so bummed. So Nick was like, “Let’s get chipotle because that’s our thing,” and it always cheers me up. SO we start having a totally random conversation, and I’m about to dive into my bowl once I take the lid off and he legit yells “WAIT!” I’m like “Bro WHUT?” and he’s on one knee and I’m like “You good??” He’s dying laughing and says, “Look in the bowl,” and my ring was in a blob of sour cream on the top. I WAS LEGIT SHOOK AND DYING LAUGHING. Because that sums us up so well- being low key but also as extra as possible. Anyways he was like “You’re my best friend and I want to spend forever doing stuff like this with you.” There ya have it JUST CASUAL NICHOLAS SPARKS VIBES.”
