We’re Moving To Hawaii!

My friend and I were in standstill traffic. We didn’t understand what was happening, or why the traffic wasn’t moving. Then all of the sudden we saw it. A bull. Running down the side of the highway. Towards us. We screamed. Then we started laughing hysterically. There were cop cars and cattle trailers trying to wrangle the thing, and we couldn’t stop laughing at the ridiculousness of it all. It was right then, in the midst of us freaking out over this cat and mouse game with a bull, that my phone rang.

It was my husband, and I knew exactly what he was calling to tell me. Today was the day we got our first orders since he joined the coast guard this past January. I answered the phone a bit distracted by the wild animal on the loose outside my car window.

“Hey honey. Guess where we’re moving…? We’re moving to Hawaii.”

My response? “ANDREW, there’s a bull on the freeway and everyone’s chasing it and it’s hilarious!”

It took me awhile to calm down from the bull ordeal, but then it finally sunk in.

We’re moving to Hawaii.

I can’t believe I just typed those words. No seriously. Neither of us have ever been to Hawaii, much less ever dreamed of living there. Even when my husband, Andrew, joined the Coast Guard, that option never crossed my mind. Weird right?

But it’s happening. It’s here. We’re moving to Hawaii. And honestly? It makes so much sense. Because we’ve always been two people who love adventure, traveling, and new experiences. And if there was ever a season of our life to go live on the island, it’s now. Yes, it’s scary. It’s wild. It’s crazy different from all we’ve ever known in Kansas, but when adventure beckons we’re not the kind to back down.

Our official move day isn’t set in stone yet, but we do know we’ll be moving around the beginning of July.

As far as what this means for Lindsey Noel Photography, I’ve always had a heart for photographing couples in love in adventurous locations. This won’t change, and I’ll still be flying back to the mainland frequently for work. However, I’m SO excited to be able to serve amazing couples, now in a huge destination location. Bring on all the beach adventure sessions and volcano elopements (that’s a thing, right?).

Andrew and I are nervous for this upcoming season of life, but we know God is leading us where he wants us. We’re confident in His plan, and we’re trusting Him every step of the way.
