Dear creative business owner,
I see you out there. I see you struggling to get clients. Struggling to find your worth. Struggling to make anyone seem to care about you or your business. You feel like you’re drowning in a sea of oversaturation. Everywhere you turn there seems to be someone better. Someone smarter. Someone more successful than you.
I get it. It’s hard.
But I recently learned one secret about success (or let’s just be real, life in general) that blew my mind. Something so simple I think a lot of people miss it. That secret?
Get out of your own way.
The main thing holding you back from achieving your dreams… is yourself. It’s not your circumstances. It’s not your finances. It’s not where you live. It’s you. Hear me out…
How often have you stopped yourself from reaching out to someone you admire because you thought you weren’t good enough or popular enough or successful enough to talk to them?
How often have you had an idea then stopped yourself before you even started because you were afraid you would fail?
How often do we let fear of rejection, failure, unworthiness stop us from stepping outside our comfort zone and going for that unknown, scary, far reaching dream we have? Far more likely than we’d like to admit, right?
So the one business secret I learned that instantly up-leveled my business? I’ll say it again for those in the back.
GET. OUT. OF. YOUR. OWN. WAY.
It’s that simple. Stop getting in your head and saying no for people before you’ve even asked. Stop wishing you had that life you dream of while taking no action to make it happen. Stop using money, circumstances, gender, or any other excuse to not be where you want to be. Yes, you’re going to be rejected. Yes, you’ll get doors slammed in your face. Yes, it’s going to be one step forward two steps back a LOT. But do it anyway. Keep going. Knock down doors. Reach out and befriend the girl you look up to. Ask for the opportunities you want instead of waiting for them to just come to you. What’s the worse that can happen? People say no. So what? Keep going. For every no you get, respond with another knock at the door.
Because YOU? You are freaking talented. You have gifts no one else in this world possesses. Look at yourself in the mirror and speak those words over yourself. Because guess what? They are true. Own your confidence. Even if you’re not confident yet, fake it until that confidence comes. Know your worth and ask for nothing less. When people start seeing you own your worth and refusing to take no for an answer, things will change.
Now friend, I want you to tell me below that big scary dream in your heart that you’ve been dreading to take the first step because you’re afraid (you know the one that immediately came to your mind as you read this blog.) No really, I want you to write it below so it’s out in the universe. Because I truly need you to believe in that dream, and go after it with all your heart. Those amazing things down the road won’t happen until you take that first step. You got this. 😉

This is soo good! I really want to reach out to assisted living facilities and photograph the older generation. This has been a dream of mine since I started actively pursuing my dream to be a photographer. I need to just do it, becauae you are right- I’m the only one holding my own self back.
Amen sister!!!
This was everything i needed and more! I am my own worst enemy and unfortunately have been for years. Its so frustrating because i know that i’m blocking myself from doing the things i love, like photography. My Instagram feed is flooded with beautiful, breath-taking photos from amazing photographers, like you! I’m constantly feeling stuck when it comes to building my image. I know i have the potential to do wonderful things in photography its just getting noticed is the hardest. Thank you for writing this post, it truly means a lot to me!
